Videoconferencing Increase Predicted for 2012

IDC has predicted a growth in VC revenue from increased usage of unified communications in businesses. The analyst has forecasted a compound annual growth rate of 18.3% to $44 billion by 2015. A figure which is over double the $19 billion global spend on unified communications in 2010.

Adopting collaborative technologies, such as videoconferencing, enables businesses to realise increased ROI, business continuity and productivity.

Integrating unified communications into a business also prevents any difficulties that may arise; such as natural disasters like the Icelandic ash cloud which proved detrimental to businesses in the UK.

"There is this increasing awareness that companies need to have emergency backup plans in terms of how they can contact their employees and maintain their operations in the event of weather or other disasters", commented Bob O'Donnell, a VP at research firm IDC.
