Open network operating system specialist Vyatta, has won the SearchServerVirtualization gold award in the virtualisation security products of the year 2011 category.

SearchServerVirtualization explains to readers that virtual environments don’t necessarily respond to traditional physical security controls. It is because of this, and the ways in which Vyatta provides quality virtual security, that the Network OS 6.3 was selected for the most prestigious award.

Vyatta’s OS is designed to be platform independent, as the manufacturer recognises that the next generation of data centre environments will be as agile as the virtualised applications they support.

The accolade was awarded based on Vyatta’s continued focus on ‘hypervisor-agnostic’ networking; the OS’s ability to bridge the security gap between the cloud and the business; and the company’s continued support for Vyatta Core, an open version of the Network OS 6.3 which can be used by those looking to adapt and test it for their own environments.
