LifeSize Aids Rackspace’s Internal Business Processes
Hybrid cloud leader Rackspace says its use of high definition video collaboration technology from LifeSize has become crucial for its day-to-day operations.
Video is used extensively inside the 5,000 strong, multi-national technology services firm to foster collaboration, as in two big recent engineering projects so as to enable engineers to work better together wherever they were.
“Video’s become such a big part of what I do every day that I can’t imagine working in a disparate team like this without it,” says the infrastructure firm’s Chief Marketing Officer Suaad Sait.
But it is also now becoming part of the normal way of working, preserving the feel of a start up: for Sait’s organisation, the ability via high definition video to enable staff – or ‘rackers’ – to enjoy the equivalent of face-to-face communications is key to preserving its key corporate value of “human to human working as the way to create great things”.
Sait also says a 30 minute video call can be just as effective – and a lot less tiring – than what used to be in its place, an hour-long conference call.
Rackspace delivers enterprise-class hybrid cloud infrastructures to 25,000 organisations, while LifeSize is the high definition video conferencing arm of IT giant Logitech.
