LifeSize Tech Underpinning Key EU Broadcast

Lifesize - Video Conferencing

Technology from high definition video communications leader LifeSize is being used as the platform for a major EU speech.

The LifeSize LRS1000 for Microsoft Lync, a meeting room collaboration system co-developed with Microsoft that extends the Lync collaboration experience and which helps deliver genuine face-to-face interactions through both the Lync interface and the Microsoft Office 365 Cloud desktop suite, is being used to deliver Brussels’ ‘State of the Union’ address.

That’s a term increasingly given to the annual speech made by the President of the Commission to the European Parliament in plenary session, with this week being the third since 2010. The speech is followed by a general debate on the political situation in the Union.

To better connect with citizens, this year the Commission installed LifeSize kit in key capitals and population centres – Brussels itself, but also Paris, Warsaw, Frankfurt and London.

There, users will be able to work with the system’s built-in HD camera, stereo audio, micpod and touch-screen control console, as well as use its single or dual touch displays – perfect for digital white boarding.

LifeSize is the video communications arm of IT giant Logitech.
