Asigra Offers Virtual Backup Advice

Cloud backup expert Asigra has written a blog advising readers on virtual backup.

One money-saving tip Asigra gives is not to install a backup agent on every guest machine when backing up virtually. Though this technique is adopted by many companies because it eases uncertainties, it is an unnecessary cost and increases management complexity. Instead, Asigra urges companies to look for virtualisation vendors that have improved APIs designed to support centralised backup with granular restore, in order to save costs.

It does pay to be cautious when it comes to protecting applications however; Asigra warns that many companies forget to back them up along with files and data. The vendor notes that application backup is essential for business continuity.
