Storage expert Spectra Logic has released a blog post about the future with regards to “Big Data” and ExaScale sized storage. The company, which has recently announced the twelfth generation of its BlueScale, suggests that customers are often overwhelmed when it comes to storing and managing large quantities of data.

The BlueScale technology, it writes, will circumnavigate the hours taken for a mutli-petabyte library to reboot itself. Similarly, BlueScale 12 allows updates to occur simultaneously, allowing, for example, one hundred and twenty drive sleds to update concurrently.

Spectra Logic has also upgraded Media Lifecycle Management assistance, which ‘informs administrators if there is an issue’ without using human time. These functions amongst others, such as XML interface, Carbide Clean and RAIT makes “Big Data” less of a headache for customers.
