Eaton has released a new power distribution unit to add to its product line, making it the first provider of power distribution solutions to implement a 480/277V configuration, catering for the demands of high-powered data centres.

The solution has been designed to work in harmony alongside the majority of Eaton’s three-phase uninterruptable power supplies, including the Eaton 9355, 9390 and 9395. The industrial-manufacturing company hope that the new custom hardware will enable large enterprise data centres to be more efficient in high-density computing and for utility power companies to save costs on step-down transformers, copper and power-distribution.

Eaton’s ePDU product manager, Joe Skorjanec, says: “Power distribution units at this voltage are usually only available as custom solutions. Eaton is among the first in the industry to offer 480V as part of our ePDU catalogue offering in order to better meet the needs of server manufacturers.”
