Eaton Corporation, a leading provider of power and cooling solutions, has opened two new US data centres, upgrading its global infrastructure. Based in Simpsonville and Louisville, Kentucky, the facilities are intended to display the vendor’s energy efficiency innovations.  Eaton expects the improved efficiency to result in energy savings of $23million.

Alexander M. Cutler, chairman and CEO at Eaton, comments: “As a power management company, finding innovative ways to enable our customers to reduce energy costs and to use power more efficiently, effectively, and safely is central to Eaton’s mission.”

The Simpsonville site has been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification by the US Green Building Council. It is expected that the Louisville data centre will also be certified later this year, due to its identical design.

The new facilities will showcase Eaton’s 9395 Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and new 400V ePDU product, which will extend its capabilities, enabling customers to run servers at 230V; this both reduces distribution costs and increases efficiency.
