CIO Magazine has awarded Eaton with a 2011 CIO 100 accolade in order to highlight the innovative approach the vendor takes when creating its technology. Eaton last won the award in 2009 and in total has been recognised five times.
Explaining why the vendor secured the CIO 100 Award, Eaton's senior vice-president and chief information officer Bill Blausey pointed to its Plant Monitoring and Dynamic ERP Health Metrics systems. These technologies help to "streamline processes and drive efficiencies. We are providing our employees with advanced data monitoring tools to increase efficiencies and customer deliverables".
The plant supply chain's data integrity can be assessed, as well as that of the master and production schedules and inventory. Eaton recently announced that its new uninterruptible power supply - the 5PX - offers capabilities such as being easy to manage that puts it ahead of the competition.
Eaton's 5PX delivers a power factor of 0.9, which it described as "industry-leading".
