FalconStor Software Explains Cloud Computing's 3 Layers

FalconStor Software has explained the three different layers of cloud computing, a technology that could be increasingly popular among those organisations that have realised the benefits that can be derived from moving to the cloud.
Vice-president of enterprise solutions at the vendor Christopher Poelker explained on a Computerworld blog that the three tiers are infrastructure, content and information cloud.
The latter is "the most common" and is "the ultimate goal of cloud computing", he stated, adding that the internet can be classed as this. Content cloud installs indexing and metadata services to deliver abstract data management. The aim of this type of platform is to enable different applications to access the same information, as well as allowing them to be changed regardless of the data structure.
Thirdly, infrastructure cloud creates virtual servers and storage "to house new and existing data into dynamic tiers of storage based on performance and reliability requirements", Mr Poelker noted.
FalconStor was recently awarded a place in the Everything Channel's CRN Virtualization 100 list for its support of enabling customers to move to virtual environments, the vendor revealed.
