Forrester on the Future of Virtualisation
07 February 2012 21:31:00
Forrester claims that virtualisation is evolving and CIOs have a growing range of products optimised for virtualisation in a new report entitled: TechRadar for enterprise architecture professionals infrastructure virtualization, Q2 2011.
The report considers the latest networking and storage virtualisation techniques before looking at cloud management, VM hypervisor and virtualisation management technologies.
The networking section of the report outlines the continued transformation from physical to virtual hardware and how physical limitations, like the speed of copper networks for example, are being eradicated. The storage virtualisation commentary includes details on software now being shipped in a virtual state due to widespread adoption of virtual disks, before the report moves on to discuss the increased adoption of cloud management with the claim that vendors are beginning to ship, “x86 systems that have a hypervisor already loaded in flash memory”. The author of the report rounds off with detail on new hypervisor management tools.
