Storage, networking and security solutions specialist Huawei Symantec, has unveiled its new virtual strategy at this year’s VMworld. The vendor has designed its data centre infrastructure to integrate with VMware hypervisors, as opposed to offering virtual management software that competes with them.

The strategy announcement coincides with the unveiling of the Huawei Symantec PowerSteering™ architecture and Huawei Symantec PowerSteering™ for VMware 1.0. Both products are designed for VMware and use plug-ins to allow the data centre manager to manage Huawei Symantec storage from their VMware vCentre interface.

Author and virtualisation expert Stephen Foskett claims: “The cleverest products focus on delivering capacity and performance in a way virtualisation administrators understand, rather than forcing them to manage their storage arrays separately."
