Aastra is a "major competitor" within the internet protocol (IP) telephony sector, a new report has revealed, adding that last year saw global sales of such technology rise, especially within enterprises. The In-Stat study said there has been a continued move towards IP telephony, with shipments for both consumers and businesses expected to surpass 40 million units in 2015.
Corded IP phones remain the business standard and will continue to do so for some time to come. However, vice-president of digital entertainment at In-Stat Norm Bogen said such handsets still allow firms to enjoy more advanced communications.
"These applications are more clearly understood in the enterprise space, where IP-based communication is replacing time division multiplexing networks at a steady pace," he explained, with the report adding that Aastra is one of the big names that operates within the IP telephony sector.
Aastra recently revealed that its latest unified communications solution - the Aastra 700 - helps to increase the productivity and efficiency of small and medium-sized businesses.
