July 2011 News Roundup
July has been a busy month for the IT news channel, with Riverbed’s acquisitions of the privately-owned Kiwi company Aptimize, specialists in web content optimisation, and UK-based Zeus Technology, provider of traffic-management and load balancing solutions. Other acquisitions include LifeSize’s takeover of Milan-based videoconferencing provider Mirial and of course, Zycko’s very own management buyout from Zycko founder Rory Sweet.
There has been some interesting and insightful research carried out by various IT analysts, including Gartner’s prediction that the SaaS market is set to double by 2015, along with IDC’s projections for cloud computing; the research house forecasts private cloud server deployment hitting $9.4bn by 2015. IDC also claimed that the sales of mobile devices were surpassing those of PCs, prompting stories about tablet popularity and how they integrate with various solutions on the market.
This month has also seen an abundance of new product launches. Just a few of those we featured were Huawei Symantec’s Dorado 2100 storage solution, Aastra’s new SIP-dect phones integration, LifeSize’s sub-$1000 Passport Connect and Hitachi Data Systems’ VMware VSphere 5 Support.
So until next time...
