QStar certified by Hitachi Data Systems as Technology Partner
08 June 2010 10:22:58
Hitachi Data Systems ( Hitachi Data Systems) has confirmed QStar as a Certified Technology Partner, ensuring that QStar's data backup and data archiving software is able to run on the Hitachi Content Platform.QStar president and chief executive officer Riccardo Finotti says: "QStar is pleased to have qualified as a Certified Technology Partner with Hitachi Data Systems; the synergy between the two companies' technologies offers increased value and benefits to our mutual customers."
The development means that the Hitachi Content Platform can now be used as part of a QStar 3-2-1 data backup system, which keeps three copies of critical files on different and geographically remote data archives.
On-site, two copies are backed up to different storage systems utilising different technologies, while a third replication is made to a remote offsite facility, protecting against both hardware failure and geographically specific natural disasters.
As a best practice solution, QStar suggests that the third copy of mission-critical data should always be kept on removable storage such as optical media or tape - and that the 3-2-1 process eliminates the need for a data archive to be backed up after being created.
