snom has launched a new range of IP phones designed for unified communications, called the snom UC. The range is designed to work with the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and includes the snom 821 UC edition, the snom 300 UC, and the snom UC600. The phones are tightly integrated with Microsoft’s Lync and take advantage of the server’s ‘productivity features’ including quick dialing and presence.

"The introduction of the snom UC edition featuring these two categories of phones qualified for Microsoft Lync provides businesses with the broad flexibility to utilise phones that can work in a pure UC environment or a hybrid UC and IP PBX environment", said Dr. Michael Knieling, snom’s executive vice president of marketing and sales.

Knieling also explains that this is just the beginning of snom’s unified communication plans, and that future developments will see snom’s entire phone product line designed for compatibility with the vendor’s UC firmware.
