VirtensysVision, drive and innovation are among the qualities for which virtualisation technologies developer Virtensys has been recognised by Red Herring as its editorial staff compiled the Top 100 Europe list for start-up companies.

The full list of attributes taken into account includes market penetration, financial performance, innovation, management quality and strategy; but Red Herring publisher and chief executive officer Alex Vieux explains that the three characteristics outlined above were the defining features of Virtensys' entrepreneurial spirit.

Virtensys products include the VIO-4000 series of virtualisation switches, which can be connected to up to 16 servers to provide four virtual input-output adapters with support for direct-attached SAS or SATA storage or for disks connected across Fibre Channel or Ethernet networks.

Ahmet Houssein, president and chief executive officer of Virtensys, says: "Customers can deploy our switches immediately and in a non-disruptive way, allowing them to tackle input-output problems in their data centres and dramatically reduce costs, power consumption and management complexity."
