VirtensysThe performance of virtualised networks can reach "unprecedented" levels with the use of Virtensys' VIO-4004 input-output (IO) virtualisation system, the developer claims.

Products from Virtensys operate by pooling the IO resources of multiple servers, allowing them to be interconnected seamlessly to make the most efficient use of the physical equipment available.

With the VIO-4004, it claims to have created previously unseen performance levels by reducing the overhead associated with IO processing while leaving the maximum possible bandwidth available for connectivity to virtual machines.

Chief executive officer and president Ahmet Houssein says: "Providing 80 Gbps of sustained bandwidth to servers in a rack, along with the capability to deliver line-rate connectivity to virtual machines, creates a unique combination that unleashes the performance of virtualised servers."

In June, Virtensys was named as one of 2010's Red Herring Top 100 Europe Tech Startup winners, recognising its drive, innovation and vision - and its strong stance against competition from other contenders.
