VirtensysVirtensys' range of input-output (IO) virtualisation solutions has been installed at the data centre of Synopsys, a provider of intellectual property and software for the design of semiconductors.

The VIO-4000 series connects using PCI Express to share IO resources across servers, cutting operational costs by 60 per cent or more and reducing complexity as well as power consumption.

Ahmet Houssein, president and chief executive officer of Virtensys, says: "Our products remove the rigid constraints of traditional IO deployments from servers and provide the flexibility and agility that organisations need in their IT infrastructure."

Synopsys selected Virtensys' VIO-4001 IOV appliance to deliver 10 Gbps of bandwidth across the full network, reduce complexity and cost yet meet performance demands.

The VIO-4001 IOV switch offers performance of up to 80 Gbps with connectivity for both local and storage area networks and a total of 16 server ports available; it occupies a 19-inch 2U unit when rack mounted.
