Vyatta Can Help Secure Enterprise Cloud Infrastructures

Illustrating his experience with Vyatta Network OS, which delivers advanced routing and security in a software-based network OS, Christopher Righter, Sr. Consultant at Capgemini explains how Vyatta enabled his company’s cloud customers to work through their security and networking challenges in a recent BusinessWeek whitepaper.

By taking Vyatta and combining it with its cloud architecture, Capgemini was able to virtualise layer 3 of its network infrastructure while answering security problems. This allowed the company to create an isolation model thereby avoiding creating thousands of IP addresses. The solution created was highly available, cost effective and enabled Capgemini to develop a rapid deployment system.

Without Vyatta, Capgemini believes that its costs would have dramatically increased which would have had a negative effect on its chargeback model. As a consequence, the company’s TCO would have increased, while its ROI would have been noticeably smaller.

Righter believes that Vyatta answers the needs for his organisation and would be similarly successful in many other organisations.
