A blog by Xsigo claims that the hype around data centre fabric is only just getting going. Explaining why this is, Xsigo firstly argue that the requirement for convergence with fabrics is becoming ever more obvious.

Citing a second reason Xsigo says that pioneering IT stores have cleared the way for further vendors to follow suit, especially now the benefits of convergence have been firmly established. Exemplifying this, the company points out that its client, Investec, testified to a 90% reduction in network complexity with Xsigo.

The third given reason is that the industry is beginning to notice that, when data centres become heavily virtualised, fractures appear in the modern networking model.

Following this point, Xsigo has taken a look at how data centre fabrics address networking challenges. Presenting seven reasons, including “Reduced reliance on VLANs” and “Eliminate the spanning tree issue”, Xsigo explains how data centre fabrics address the challenges of virtualisation.
