Lync Room System From LifeSize On The Horizon

Lifesize - Video Conferencing

Video for business pioneer LifeSize and global IT leader Microsoft are to deepen their collaboration in a bid to make video easier for enterprises to adopt.

The partners have announced a plan to deliver a joint video and collaboration solution that will bring the latter’s popular Lync unified communications experience to the video conferencing room. LifeSize is to join a number of other video players in the scheme, currently named the Microsoft Lync Room Systems programme which centres on the latest version of the Microsoft Lync platform, 2013.

As a first step in that process, LifeSize has released LifeSize LRS1000 for Microsoft Lync, a meeting room collaboration solution that runs natively on the 2013 release and which has been designed to introduce the familiar Lync user experience and group collaboration facilities to video meeting room settings. To that end, it includes support for voice and video calling on both Lync 2010 and 2013, as well as support for touch-screen control consoles with a range of features including user directory, presence, calendar, HD camera support and other add-ons.

“We strive to continue to work closely with [Microsoft] to deliver products that seamlessly interoperate with Microsoft’s unified communications platform,” noted LifeSize’s SVP corporate development, Matt Collier.

LifeSize is the high definition video conferencing arm of IT giant Logitech.
