Zycko strengthen operations in Holland

Distributor seeking new partners across the Dutch region

21st February 2007 - Zycko, a value-added distributor of best-in-class convergent storage and IP solutions, is seeking additional partners to support a push into the Dutch market.

Since our inception seven years ago, Zycko has built a loyal base of customers and received strong encouragement from our strategic vendors, such as Isilon and Riverbed. These factors have helped to strengthen Zycko's determination for the creation of a permanent Dutch office.

By the end of April, Zycko will also look to have recruited at least 20 new staff across a range of departments, such as vendor management, HR, warehouse operations, marketing and sales.

Zycko currently operates across three continents and from seven offices, including the UK, France, Germany and Russia. David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at Zycko, said a Holland office is a strategic necessity.

"We have been operating in the region for some time and know that opportunities exist there for our VARs to take advantage of," he said. "Our strategy is that once demand reaches a certain point in any given locality, we must consider locally based support in order to facilitate continued growth and Holland has now reached that point."

According to the Scottish Enterprise, an economic development agency, the Dutch market is both mature and competitive. A presence in the region can allow businesses to cater to the continental European market, with opportunities already present in the telecommunications sector.

"We already deal with resellers who have a proven track record in storage and/or IP integration," added Galton-Fenzi. "The Zycko strategy is proven across our other offices, so simply deploying the best-of-breed strategy and finding suitably respected local employees is our focus for Holland."

News of the expansion was welcomed by Zycko's existing vendors.

Steve Jenkins, vice president of EMEA at Isilon, said: "By laying down foundations in Holland, Zycko is sending out a clear message to resellers in the region that it is serious about exploring the sales opportunities there."

Marcus Chambers, Vice President EMEA at Riverbed Technology, said: "Holland is part of the major European trading network. Zycko's presence there will provide added strength and a direct opportunity for Riverbed resellers to present our market-leading WAN optimisation solutions to the Dutch market."
