Zycko and Plasmon partner for Raidtec data management

Larger RAID portfolio opened for VARs

16th March 2007 - Zycko, a value-added distributor of convergent storage and IP solutions, has expanded its agreement with Plasmon to include the vendor's Raidtec solution portfolio.

Under the terms of the agreement, Zycko will now be able to offer reseller partners direct access to Plasmon's Raidtec solutions, which enable businesses to manage the growing demand for storage capacity through a broad range of cost-effective RAID storage systems.

Zycko already distribute Plasmon's UDO archival storage solution range. However, this latest agreement to also carry Plasmon's Raidtec range, which incorporates NAS, SCSI and Fibre Channel host interfaces, will be a significant boost to reseller partners.

David Galton-Fenzi, group sales director at Zycko, said: "Our partners have already seen significant sales traction with Plasmon's UDO range, but the addition of Raidtec will open up new conversations for them - leading them into new markets and repeat sales opportunities."

Featuring in the Raidtec range is the FX4000 Fibre Channel RAID, Plasmon's fastest fibre channel RAID offering, with a 1,500 MB/sec transfer rate. It is designed to cater for the mid-range SAN market, providing high-performance primary storage in a cost-effective and versatile format.

Galton-Fenzi added that high-performance RAID disks can be combined with UDO technology to ensure secure and long-term data retention. The Raidtec solutions also offer businesses the ability to manage a growing demand for magnetic disk storage when, for example, streaming video capture and audio/video footage.

Steve Tongish, director of EMEA marketing at Plasmon, said that by extending its partnership with Zycko, Plasmon could be confident that it would be securing continued growth of its entire product line throughout Zycko's operating regions.

"We have seen extremely positive sales with Zycko over the last 12 months and we hope to continue that trend by adding Raidtec to their distribution expertise," he said. "Raidtec represents the forefront of management for expanding data storage requirements."

In January, Plasmon's Raidtec solutions received renewed interest when the vendor showcased the product set at the International IP and Security Exhibition and Conference in Coventry.
