Video Conferencing’s Multiple Faces

If you thought video is only now finally finding its feet with business conferencing then you’d be wrong. It turns out that while using the now highly affordable technology is now a no-brainer for many enterprises to help foster better collaboration and reduce needless corporate travel, other sectors are also starting to see huge potential in the approach.

In education, from primary to universities, students and faculty are singing the praises of the technology as a way to better share information and expand the classroom or lecture hall. And education isn’t just for full time scholars as huge organisations like the US Military are also getting on board with so called ‘mLearning’, enabled by video technology.

Experts at business video leader LifeSize are also working with a range of organisations in the healthcare field – especially on the rapidly-growing platform of smartphones and tablets – to help clinicians and patients by, for example, sharing results and moving sensitive patient data around quickly and securely.

New independent research into the global healthcare video conferencing market – which will hit $2bn by 2016 – from research firm TechNavio also puts LifeSize as leading that market.

LifeSize is the HD video communications system arm of Logitech.
