Video Spells The End For The Travelling Salesman
Why aren’t more sales calls being made by video? It’s an intriguing thought, as while we are all getting comfortable with using the camera on our smartphones to make two-way visual calls and Skype to conduct business meetings, the medium is under utilised by salespeople.
Time that changed, according to LifeSize, the global leader in helping enterprises leverage video conferencing technology, which points out that it not only slashes travel costs but can also result in in-person quality interaction for an over-the-phone time commitment.
The company points out that video allows you to pick up on non-verbal clues – pretty useful, considering experts think as much as 75 per cent of all communication actually happens this way. It also allows presentation aids, like dress style to help your credibility, greater personalisation and, of course, deploying visual aids (not just PowerPoint, but examples of products or samples, for instance).
The addition of a visual component to telecommunication can add a whole new dimension and open up what the firm calls a “toolbox full of possibilities” for the sales professional willing to use this now-accepted technology.
