Hitachi Launches New Midrange NAS - Enterprise functionality in a midrange package

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has announced the general availability of the new Hitachi Network Attached Storage (NAS) Platform, which is powered by BlueArc and has two new solutions, the 3080 and 3090.

The new solutions will boost consolidation, management, performance and scalability for midrange storage, allowing customers to benefit from up to 30 per cent total cost of ownership savings.

  Infortrend joins with Zycko to boost scale-out architecture

Infortrend and Zycko have joined forces to boost their focus on scale-out architecture and improve European market growth.

The news comes in light of Infortrend revealing its new storage-attached network storage system, the Enterprise Scalable Virtualised Architecture (ESVA), which Zycko's group sales director David Galton-Fenzi describes as matching the requirements of enterprises.

  Asigra and Hitachi form technology alliance

Asigra has joined the Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) Technology Alliance Program and has also announced that its Hybrid Cloud Backup and Recovery platform has been certified with the Hitachi Network-Attached Storage Platform.

This combined solution will deliver "enterprise-class backup" that requires a minimal management input from midmarket organisations, resulting in a backup and recovery offering which overcomes challenges faced by users of traditional solutions.

  Isilon and Storwize 'reduce capacity by 70%'

Storwize and Isilon have joined together to demonstrate that the Isilon IQ with the Storwize STN-600 data reduction solution provides a complete primary storageoptimisation offering for VMware infrastructures.

The demo will show a 70 per cent reduction in capacity for such environments, lowering the total cost of ownership by optimising the redundancy of some storage files by applying real-time data compression.
