WAN optimisation specialist Riverbed has announced an update for its RiOS 7 system. Designed for its Steelhead WAN optimisation appliances, the upgrade is directed towards what Riverbed describes as 'emerging applications and platforms'.
The RiOS operating system will improve enterprise apps (such as video conferencing) through supporting native stream splitting in Silverlight HTTP and Flash.

VM-aware storage specialist Tintri has followed the launch of its latest appliance, the VMstoreT T540 at VMworld Europe with recognition from COMPUTERWORLDUK as an up and coming storage company to watch, and a blog on how to manage storage performance.
The VMstoreT T540 benefits from a new bottleneck visualisation tool that allows IT managers to get a clearer picture of their virtual environment down to the very storage it's built, on while also offering customers a 50% increase in usable capacity, and a 70% increase in flash capacity.

The new solution is one of the results of LifeSize's parent company Logitech's acquisition of Mirial, as reported by Zycko in July.
The LifeSize Softphone is ideal for the mobile workforce, as it's is versatile, easy-to-use, portable and reliable.

Xsigo Recognised By Gartner as "Data Centre Network Specialist"

I/O virtualisation specialist Xsigo has been acknowledged for its data centre Ethernet switches in a recent report by Gartner entitled "Competitive Landscape: Data Centre Ethernet Switches, Worldwide, 2011 Update".
In the report, Gartner highlights the fact that consumers realise the need to modernise the types of switches that they use within data centres.

Zycko Wins HD VC Awards

|
HD video conferencing specialist LifeSize Communications has awarded distributor Zycko three partner awards. The awards included 'Best Solution Project of the Year 2011', which was awarded on account of a project in which Zycko worked with an Italian maritime-based user, installing 150 conference room systems and one thousand end points.
Zycko was also awarded EMEA Cross Regional Distributor of the Year 2011 because of its sustained successes on working across regions.

Vyatta Looks Forward To Virtual Networking In 2012

Vyatta has blogged on its rapid acceleration throughout 2011 and the excellent outlook for 2012. Over 50% of the Fortune 500 companies now have Vyatta installed in their data centres, and the Vyatta community is going strong with over 300,000 users in worldwide locations like Poland, Latin America and Japan, and a new book recently published on the virtual network OS.
This year has also seen Dell, Carpathia and DinCloud adopt the software and Vyatta form a new distribution partnership with Zycko.
