The IT department at Four Seasons Resort Aviara is responsible for backing up and protecting all the property’s data, including payroll, human resources and fi nancial data and room, spa and restaurant reservations. But properly backing up the resort’s data using its outdated tape drives was a daily challenge. Backups stretched as long as sixteen hours a day and the IT staff had grown tired of managing tape and dealing with reliability issues.
