Tintri & Washington State University Case Study
The College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) at WSU wanted to virtualize student desktops to deliver a cost-effective and secure environment while reducing operating costs. Initial attempts to deploy a VDI solution were not successful, as existing storage could not provide the needed performance. At its Pullman campus, The CEA at WSU deployed a Tintri T540 system that provided 13.5TB usable capacity in a single datastore for providing virtual desktops.

Intelsat was a company amidst change. Following the acquisition of PanAmSat, Intelsat wanted to continue investing in its businesses, and ensure that it was remaining customer focused. “It was an interesting time for the company,” noted Dan Campbell, director of network engineering. “Most people would think that enabling the merger of two companies was a big enough project to handle in and of itself. But we also wanted to make sure that we upgraded our capabilities and accomplished existing goals such as application centralization. That meant finding smart, manageable IT infrastructure solutions that could keep us ahead of the game.”

San Diego Supercomputer Center Chooses Force10 Switch/Router for TeraGrid Connectivity
Enterprises and research institutions once turned to mainframes or supercomputers for the computing power needed to run their most processor- and data-intensive applications. Today, they are turning to clusters and Grids made up of tens to thousands of small commodity servers, interconnected with scalable, high-performance Ethernet networks. These Grids will give users access to enormous ""virtual supercomputers"" — computers at different locations linked together to work as one — enabling breakthroughs in science and engineering.
