The IT staff at KMM had protected its Windows server data by backing up to tape each night, but was struggling to keep up with the company’s growing data protection demands within its allotted backup window. “We simply had too much data and couldn’t keep up with our backups using tape,” said Paul Kramer, Assistant Manager, Information Systems at KMM. “Our weekly backups began at 8:00 p.m. Friday night and the jobs would often still be running at 7:00 a.m. Monday morning.
