Course Summary

This course replaces the Galaxy System Administrator class. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the planning, installation, configuration, and administration of the CommVault QiNetix Common Technology Engine (CTE) including the Galaxy file system and application iDataAgents.

It will familiarize the students with the concepts and terminology of the CTE such as the CommServe Storage Manager, MediaAgents, two-tier indexing, and the patented Data Stream technology.

The course covers file system, database, and document/message level Galaxy iDataAgents.

Hands-on labs using Windows and Linux File Systems, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Database and Mailbox iDataAgents are used to reinforce the concepts.

The course participant will learn the basics of component installation and configuration, CommCell Console navigation, user administration and security, storage policy configuration, device and media management options, backup scheduling, restore procedures and options, and CommCell disaster recovery.
